Nursery & Reception
At Oasis Academy Long Cross we use the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum to underpin our curriculum across Nursery.
Our aim is to provide holistic learning in a safe, exciting and stimulating environment through which all children are challenged and make outstanding progress. Our curriculum enables us to develop confident, curious children who are equipped with foundations to nurture a lifelong love of learning. We engage with and value contributions from parents, professionals and the local community to ensure best outcomes for every child at Oasis Academy Long Cross so that they are ready for their next stage of learning.
We foster a harmonious atmosphere which supports and promotes self-esteem. We build confident communicators supporting every child as an individual across development in all areas of the Early Years and Foundation Stage. We support every child to grow up feeling confident about their own identity, in a spirit of friendship, understanding fairness and the rights of others and valuing diversity.
The Early Years Foundation Stage has seven areas of learning:
- Personal Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Each term the children will have a key enquiry question to explore across the term. This is usually based on a traditional tale and/or a really high quality text as a provocation. For more information about what the enquiries are and what types of things they will be learning please see our curriculum progression ladders.
